I was telling her once how I'd talked about her vastly improved German with some friends from my bilingual parents group and how everyone was so happy that she was speaking German so well and how I was so proud of her - she was so stunned by that she stopped speaking German to me for an entire week! (I am not kidding.) Now I only praise her when she asks me what I think of her German or whether I think she's doing a good job - and that seems to be accpetable to her. Strange little creature :) Heh, my child has already educated me on where she stands on this regarding her minority language – squarely on the side where ignoring any progress is a good thing!
