You know after writing the post I realised myself how important it is this point on motivation (i.e. child&#039;s motivation being different from the parents&#039;), it&#039;s so easy to take for granted kids will do what we say because we know what&#039;s best for them...

Agreed - passive bilingualism is still a great achievement (that children can build on later in life if they so choose), and motivation is so important (parents&#039; motivation may differ from kids&#039; - have to give them a reason to see the language applied and want to use it). Thanks! I enjoy reading your posts.
